What are specialisations?
These are distinct areas of expertise that you have developed through study, training, and experience. They show on your Clearhead therapist profile and support potential clients to find you (see screenshot below of a “generalist” example).

We’re improving our approach to therapy specialisations
As of December 15th 2025, you will only be able to have 12 specialisations listed. Historically there was no limit, which led many providers to select long lists of specialisations. Users have told us this sometimes makes matches feel too general. Setting a clear limit helps people find therapists with the specific expertise they are looking for.
If your list is still above twelve after 15 December, the system will automatically select twelve from your current options.

You can change your specialisations at any time by following the “how do I update my specialisations?” instructions below.
How do I update my specialisations?
- [Log in] to your Provider Portal and select Profile Information from the side bar menu.
- Select About You under My Account.
- Select the purple Edit button, which you can find on top right-hand corner.
- Go down to “Specialisation Tags” and cross off any you don’t want, leaving up to 12 tags. You can add different tags by selecting options in the drop down.
- Select Save. Thank you!

Additional information
If there are specialisations that you want to include, but are not yet available, please let us know by providing feedback here. Remember, you can also add key words to your biography at any time, which are factored into our search algorithm.
